Instrument to prawie dwugodzinny dokument o kultowej waszyngtońskiej grupie Fugazi. Film Jema Cohen'a i prezentuje działalność Fugazi w ciągu dekady w latach 1987–1997.

Koncerty, wywiady, trasy, próby, pracę w studio, portrety, krajobrazy – słowem same rarytasy dla fanów.

„Instrument” jest efektem współpracy filmmakera Jem’a Cohen’a (przyjaciela grupy i zarazem wielkiego fana) oraz samego zespołu, z dala od tradycyjnej formy dokumentacji przedstawia nam 10-letni okres działalności Fugazi od momentu jej powstania w roku 1987. Projekt ten jest muzycznym dokumentem – portretem muzyków podczas pracy.

Szeroki zakres archiwalnych formatów obejmuje materiały koncertowe, sesje nagraniowe, praktykę, podróżowanie, wywiady oraz portrety członków publiczności. Składanie materiału zajęło około 5 lat i jest całkowicie naturalną i szczerą prezentacją muzycznego doświadczenia oraz dnia codziennego muzyków. Film w całości został zredagowany z członkami grupy wraz z obszernym wykorzystaniem muzyki, którą Fugazi specjalnie skomponowało na potrzeby filmu.
