Jego prawdziwe nazwisko BRZMI Namwisi Ngoy, alias Reddy Amisi alias Bailo Canto, urodził się 5 maja 1960 roku w Kinszasie w rodzinie ośmiorga dzieci. Jest żonaty i ojcem 4 dzieci.

 

Reddy Amisi to utalentowany wokalista ze stajni Viva La Musica. Amisi śpiewał jako dziecko w chórze kościelnym, a gdy kontynuował śpiewanie, dostrzeżono jego talent i zaczął śpiewać w grupie Le Juvénile. Już w 1977 roku, w wieku 17 lat, Papa Wemba, który był pod wrażeniem jego głosu, zaprosił go do dołączenia do Viva La Musica, ale Amisi czuł się jeszcze za młody i wolał najpierw kontynuować naukę w szkole.

Wreszcie w październiku 1982 roku, po tym, jak Kester Emeneya opuścił Viva la Musica wraz z 12 innymi muzykami Reddy Amisi dołączył do nich. Został głównym wokalistą i komponował popularne piosenki, ale mógł także nagrywać albumy pod własnym nazwiskiem, przy wsparciu Viva la Musica.

Kiedy w 1992 roku kilku muzyków opuściło Viva la Musica, aby stworzyć Nouvelle Generation De La Republique Demokratyczna Du Congo, pozostał wierny Papa Wembie. Pewnego razu (w 1994) założył własny zespół (z którym nagrał płytę Prudence), jednak Papa Wemba nie był zadowolony z tej inicjatywy, przejął zespół i zmienił jego nazwę na Nouvelle Ecriture.
