The Argument

“Argument ” to szósty studyjny album Fugazi wydany 2001 przez Dischord Records. Został nagrany w studiu Ear Studios w Arlington. Po premierze album spotkał się z szalenie przychylnymi recenzjami, stał się także najlapiej sprzedającą się płytą Fugazi. Jest to ostatni album zespołu przed zawieszeniem działalności w 2002 roku.

“Argument” rozszerzył twórczość grupy na bardziej eksperymentalne horyzonty muzyczne niż te zawarte na “Red Medicine” czy “End Hits”. Na “The Argument” usłyszymy takie instrumenty jak fortepian i wiolonczelę które niewątpliwie wzbogacają brzmienie Fugazi.

Album zyskał niezwykle dobre recenzje. Allmusic i The Rolling Stone ocenił “The Argument” na 4,5/5. Q oraz NME przyznały natomiast 4/5. W serwisie Pitchfork “The Argument” uzyskał wysoką, rzadko przyznawaną notę 8,5/10.

Wielu uznaje “The Argument” za sczyt możliwości kompozytorskich Ian'a MacKaye oraz Guy'a Picciotto.
