Imienny debiut The Stooges miał premierę latem 1969 roku. Z niego pochodzą kultowe już dziś kompozycje "I Wanna Be Your Dog" oraz "1969". Początkowo niezbyt przychylnie potraktowany przez krytyków, z czasem został doceniony jako materiał, który dał początek bardziej alternatywnemu podejściu do muzyki rockowej. Głównie za sprawą niesamowitej jak na tamte czasy gry na gitarze Rona Ashetona, wykorzystującej sprzężenia i distortion. Album wyprodukował znany z The Velvet Underground John Cale, który zagrał też na pianinie i altówce.
Disc one first issued as Elektra LP (#74051, August 1969).
Remastered at Digiprep. Disc two mixed March 2005 at Ofr studio (North-Hollywood, California, USA)
Edition in gatefold cover with bonus record expanded with alternate takes & mixes.
