Album koncepcyjny, wydany w 2005 roku przez Sufjana Stevensa. Utwory określają miejsca i osoby związane z amerykańskim stanem Illinois. To drugi album (z planowanych 50-ciu) z cyklu poświęconego poszczególnym stanon USA. Pierwszym był Michigan w 2003 r.
Stevens nagrał i wyprodukował album w wielu miejscach w Nowym Jorku, wykorzystując sprzęt studyjny o niskiej jakości i różnorodne instrumenty. Dzieła i teksty poświęcone są historii, kulturze, sztuce i geografii. Stevens opracował je po analizie dokumentów kryminalnych, literackich i historycznych.
Krytycy pochwalili album za dobrze napisane teksty i skomplikowane orkiestracje. Illinois został uznany za najlepszy album 2005 roku przez Metacritic i był pierwszym dużym sukcesem Stevensa do tej pory ( Top Billboard 200).
